After a couple of weeks of testing (much more for the AIX 3.2.5
upgrade), a patch to release 7.7 is going to field this evening.
Changes include...
All Platforms
service entry for Oracle added (/etc/services)
new printing software (lpr, lpd, etc.)
new Athena root password
"tellme" command added (tellme root, tellme combo)
change /etc/athena/login/Xsession to ignore "Ignore
customizations" if the file ~/.noignore exists.
AIX
AIX 3.2.5 OS upgrade
improved error logging
Solaris
shared memory turned on in /etc/system
vold reenabled
all cron-based synchronized load spikes removed
(/var/spool/cron/crontabs/root)
AFS modload fixed for AFSCLIENT != FALSE (/etc/init.d/athena)
/dev/audio device recreated at reboot time for Sparc 5s
(/etc/init.d/athena)
some general cleanup of /etc/init.d/athena
fix to machtype under Solaris so machtype -c returns SPARC/5
instead of SPARC/Classic on SPARCstation 5s.
network driver patches
top manual page fixed
US timezone files brought correctly to local disk
Ultrix
FPU test added (/etc/athena/rc.athena)
All cron-based synchronized load spikes removed (/etc/crontab)
Another WHOI subnet added (/etc/athena/rc.net)
