Here are some changes you might consider for future sun releases.
We are going to be receiving a bunch of new suns in the CRL cluster
soon and I have been poking around with how students and profs will
be using them. Here are some issues that I have come across,
(mainly in the guise of moving lockers on to sun machines).

1)
In /etc/vfstab change the "mount at boot" option of /usr to no.
Mounting happens automatically anyway amd causes problems when more
disks with filesystems are added. i.e.
/dev/dsk/c0t3d0s5 /dev/rdsk/c0t3d0s5 /usr ufs 3 no

2)
Make compilers on solaris machines work over nfs.

3)
Install more swap space. Some of our applications here (arcinfo)
need 100meg to run. (This is just 3x RAM anyway)

4) Have mkserv ops and nfs work together. Presently quota is
required but doesn't exist (probably a decstation remnant).

Thanks,
Philip
