I don't understand. I just fetched the 7.0 SBE Nvidia RPM and the 7.0
Retail RPM just fine. (Mind you, the 7.0 Retail RPM is SOLELY a set of
XF86Config files, so there IS lameness here.)
The 7.0 SBE for NVidia consists of:
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/nvidia_drv.o
/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.5
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9/ALI_USERS_README
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9/M64_USERS_README
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9/NVIDIA_Changelog
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9/NVIDIA_Linux.html
/usr/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-0.9/TNT_USERS_README
/usr/lib/libGL.so.1.0.5
/usr/lib/libGLcore.so.1.0.5
and
/dell/X11/README
/dell/X11/XF86Config-1024
/dell/X11/XF86Config-1280
/dell/X11/XF86Config-1600
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4
/lib/modules/2.2.17-8/video/NVdriver
/lib/modules/2.2.17-8enterprise/video/NVdriver
/lib/modules/2.2.17-8smp/video/NVdriver
Modules for 2.2 seem wrong to me, though. I thought 7.0 was a 2.4 based
kernel.
I'm inclined to conclude that since /usr/lib/libGL.so is 1.1.<stuff> that
maybe the accelerated NVIDIA support is now native. But having spent a
lot of time groveling over the XFree86, RedHat, and Dell web sites
trying to understand Video support, I'm rather unfairly presuming I'll
never really get a simple, correct, and definitive answer to this.
