The miniroot update still does not work; AFS comes up but doesn't work
properly, even if we "rm -f /usr/vice/cache/*" before bringing up AFS.
We get screwy status bits, like:
# ls -l /afs/.dev.mit.edu
------x--x 2 85094 860701048 2 Dec 31 1969 /afs/.dev.mit.edu
At this point we can either:
* Hack finish-update to newfs the AFS cache partition
(preserving /usr/vice/etc). This seems error-prone
(especially since I think we have some machines with
/usr/vice partitions and some machines with /usr/vice/cache
partitions) and disastrous if it fails.
* Put out the patch release without a miniroot update and
ignore the blank-screen problem.
* Give up on installing these Solaris patches.
People should keep in mind that this situation is eating badly into my
9.0 preparation time, which is already stretched very thin.
