I've recently started playinf with hfsutils, a collection of
unix programs for accessing HFS (Mac) filesystems from Unix. The
programs all require no kernel supprt and work in userspace; they're
very analgous to mtools, although there's a very nifty graphical browser
for mounted HFS volumes named "xhfs".

I figured these programs would be useful for our environment
since currently SGIs are the only platform that provides support for Mac
formatted media, and we'd like to drop all of them off a cliff. I've
set these programs up in the "hfstools" locker for sun4x_57, sgi_65, and
i386_linux22 if people want to play with them.

My question is whether we as release-team would consider
officially blessing these programs and moving them into the same
supported state that mtools has. I would be happy to keep maintaining
these programs and provide some assistance to OLC in training or writing
stock answers on them if necessary.
