linux install doesn't cope with 8.4

When Greg and I changed the linux install to install 8.4 by
default last night, it seems to have broken. When installing a Linux
machine with 8.4, the install seems to take place normally, but when you
reboot, LILO gets as far as printing LI and then stops.
We've reverted back to installing 8.3 by default for now. It
would be very good if this install problem was fixed sometime this week.
