Just as an addendum, I tried my test again on sourcery, a 333MHz Ultra
5 with 128MB of memory, under both our current AFS module (ports 1.67)
and AFS 3.5. I got:

	ports 1.67	12.81
	afs3.5 3.32	12.09
	Local disk 5.99

So I don't expect things to get any better with AFS 3.5,
unfortunately.
