I plan the following for 8.3.29. Please suggest modifications as
appropriate.
athena-ws:
Omit oops debugging echo from update_ws
Store on local disk a copy of the package list we upgraded to
athena-ws should inaugurate rc.conf with PUBLIC=false;
installer should set it true.
turn on sound
/dev/dsp and friends should be world read/write
athena-sendmail:
sendmail feeds to `/bin/mail -d foo' for local mail which just
drops it on the floor.
/etc/athena/sendmail.conf is missing
Make sure sendmail can deliver to local accounts like Athena
normally does
rootfiles, athena-dotfiles:
Root has no dotfiles
???
Using xterm and bash on alice-whacker, meta sets the high bit
on characters, causing them to be entered literally
(ie. meta-p becomes p.) fixable by setting convert-meta in
one's bash dotfiles, but Karl points out that athena sets
eightBitInput: false on other platforms, so that might be
needed on this port too...
Reported problems with /usr/share/terminfo/x/xterm:
man pages not shown correctly
using tcsh history does not refresh command line properly
terminal will go into reverse video with some regularity
Fixable by using TERM=xterm-color, but should get fixed for real.
Default login seems to result in backspace printing ^H instead
of erasing
various:
augment /etc/services with whatever other Athena platforms have
gpm:
don't install gpm
athena-glue:
xlock refers to xlock.real, but that don't exist
installer:
turn on sound
inaugurate RPM list file that update_ws uses.
