Propogated; it fixes the problems after Karl's changes. The cdrom
device is still fascist because the /dev/cdrom link doesn't exist at the
time the script is run for unknown reasons, but this can be fixed by
putting the chmod in the athena-ws package, and isn't a showstopper.

Unfortunately, Thomas's instructions for creating install media still
fail, even with the mode 666 device, because the default dotfiles "set
noclobber":

[zacheiss@alice-whacker] /mit/bootkit/rhlinux> cat 3c90x.fl > /dev/fd0
/dev/fd0: File exists.

This works as root, and dd as a non-root user works; Greg and I
agreed to change the instructions to use dd, and I've done so for the
copy of the instructions in the bootkit locker (which are now under
RCS). Greg has copied the new instructions into the als locker.

I also set up /afs/athena/system/config/passwd/rhlinux to contain
prototype passwd and shadow files with the public root password, and
verified that the root password is correctly set.

At this point, there's nothing that I believe to be a showstopper
preventing us from deploying tomorrow. There are a couple of issues to
watch out for, though:

    * /usr/bin/exmh is before /mit/sipb/bin/exmh in a user's path.  This
uses the redhat version of tcl instead of the version in the tcl locker,
which has been hacked to not produce warning messages about xauth that
the user can safely ignore. We'll probably get some olc questions about
it.

    * /usr/X11R6/bin/fvwm{,2} will be in a user's path before the
version in the windowmanagers locker. This may cause problems for
people with customized .fvwmrc's if there's version skew.

...and there's probably a few other namespace conflicts I haven't
hit yet. Nothing major, but cf. Karl's mail, if might be nice to remove
the rpms that install the conflicting redhat versions from the list of
installed rpms.
