It appears that the Redhat shipped RPM setup-2.0.5-1 installs
/etc/passwd without a password for root, and expects it to be set
manually at some point in the install. We don't want to prompt the user
for a root password at any point. The easiest solution would be what we
do on other platforms: Copy the /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow we want to
use out of AFS onto the local disk of the machine. This wouldn't be
difficult to implement. Greg or Thomas should comment if they think
this is a reasonable way to fix the problem.
