That seems untenable to me.
It is unreasonable to have one way to configure athena software under
Linux-athena, and a different way on other platforms.

If a change is made for linux-athena, it should happen to the rest
of the platforms, too.
Otherwise it is a support nightmare. Not to mention a nightmare
to use and live and work in.
