Who told? I wasn't there. Bill, you told, didn't you?

As of last night's propagation, there are now *export-safe* (read:40-bit
weak encryption) versions of Netscape 4.07 on infoagents for both the Sun
and the SGI platforms. Use the command 'netscape-4.07' to run them;
'netscape' alone will still get you 4.05.

All the people who were using outland to get that Java are being notified
that they now have a Correct Alternative (to wit, some introductory-level
programming courses and the UA, who needed it for their new voting
system - don't ask.)

In other Netscape news, 4.5 is being discussed (now that Netscape has
unexpectedly decided to stick a fork in it and call it done) ... but we
are attempting to work out some crypto-related issues before we even
contemplate installing it.

Also, before we install it, infoagents will have to get its space bumped
up a notch or get a good housecleaning to remove cruft ... probably both.
Mike Whitson had to give me an emergency 20MB boost for each of the SGI
and SUN arch areas just so 4.07 could be added.

Oh, and the netscape wrapper script was *finally* modified yesterday to
gripe at anyone who tries to run Netscape from a dialup machine. That,
too, propagated last night. Apologies to danw and mwhitson for letting
that fall through the cracks. (I finally found the email about it - in the
wrong mail folder.)

Many of Bill's interests are reasonably or unreasonably irrelevant.
