As part of an article on the release that is going into the
mid-August issue of the Insider, we were planning on saying
something like the following (Jean is still doing edits, so the
wording may not be exactly as state it here):
>*Energy saving on Suns **
>----------------------
>
>Solaris 2.6 includes an energy saving features which will put the
>monitor in power saving mode after 10 mins. of idle time. Moving
>the mouse will wake it back up, but it may take several seconds
>for the screen to become fully illuminated. (Note: the monitor
>will not sleep if you are running a screen saver, and it will wake
>back up when a Zephyrgram is received).
>
>To disable this feature, you should add the command 'xset s
>noblank' to your .startup.X file. This will generate a giant X
>pattern on your screen after a prolonged idle period instead of
>blanking it totally, and a slight movement of the mouse will bring
>the full screen back up immediately.
If plans may be changing, please suggest alternative wording. Our
deadline for text changes is coming up within the next few days.
Thanks - Naomi
