Since I was charged with picking a date for the root password change,
I would like to suggest: Tuesday May 26th. This is the day after
Memorial day, and the first working day after finals are over.
If this is going to happen, we should really change tellme soon, so
I'd appreciate it if people could let me know if they have objections
soon. Baring objections I'll probably make the announcement late this
week.
fuzzballs: in case you were unaware, the motivation for this change is
to guarantee that we won't have a recurrance of the skull hack virus
this fall, since the code didn't appear to be year 1998 compliant (to
say nothing of year 2000). I would also like to change the root
password, before the release goes to beta if possible, since there is
code to cleanup some virus turds in the update scripts for 8.2.
