Hi, Alex. Are you doing your testing on a public workstation? The
way we handle these device permissions issues is to do the chmod
during the public workstation cleanup; we aren't willing to fiddle
with people's device permissions on private workstations (they might
have a disk instead of a CD-ROM at target 6). I would check for
myself, but I'm in Pittsburgh right now and there aren't very many
public Athena workstations nearby.
If public machines running 8.1.8 still don't have the permissions
change, get back to me and I'll fix it in 8.1.9.
