Subject: Serious troubles at CRL

We upgraded our nfs servers grotto and agora to 8.1.8 and have a number
of trou bles.

The most serious one is that mountd does not stay up. On either server.
It mi ght stay up for a little bit, but then dies. No messages in
/usr/adm/messages.

The only thing funny about the binaries is that they are owned by uid
2740, and group mit. I just now changed them to root, but that didn't
help. The one on agora died a few minutes later.

We are sort of stuck here, since we can't easily back out of this upgrade.

Other troubles:

1) mkserv knfs does NOT change NFSSRV=true in the rc.conf file! It was
originally true, but the update changed it to false.

2) mkserv quota not available for the sun. I did copy the binaries over
by hand.

3) We are getting lots of "Notice: nfs_server: weak authentication", but
only on grotto, not on agora.

4) Agora says: "You are not allowed to attach a filesystem here" when
booting . It does not have its system packs attached. I can't attach
anything until I link t he system packs by hand, then attach works fine.
Agora has "mkserv knfs ops" and Grotto has "mkserv remote knfs ops". Grotto
works fine.

5) Grotto gets an error when it boots around the time the network is
being initialized. "Zs3: ring buffer overflow". The network otherwise
works fine. It always gets this error.

And lastly:

On keep (our printserver), I went to the latest 8.1.8. We had been at
8.1 with a patch to get around a bug in the printserver code. When I
had upgraded to 8.1 (from 8.0), there were a number of errors that I
had pointed out to mwhitson, who was helping me at the time. They
don't seem to have been fixed. It can't copy klpcd during the mkserv,
since you need kerberos tickets to get to it. It has a problem with
printacl.pl, which should be in /var/ops/bin, but isn't (I didn't
catch where it should have come from). There are two files that it
suggests that I copy to /var/ops/bin, something in pscomm_lock/$mach/bin
(which it doesn't specify) and hpcheck. Both of these are down in
/afs/athena.mit.edu/astaff/project/opssrc/print/utils/, which I can't get
to even with regular authentication.
