Hi Peter,

I spoke with Tom Yu yesterday and as a result I have bad news and good news.

Bad News: It seems that Bill Cattey's information about Tom having an AIX
             box was premature!

Good News: The AIX box was actually arriving when I arrived at his office to
             chat!

Better News: There has been enough demand for kerberos support for AIX (from r
outside of MIT) that the IS kerberos team is gearing up to handle
it. They persuaded IBM to donate an RS/6000 so that they could
have a current version of AIX to work with.

In the course of our conversation, Tom agreed to be the point person for the
Admin. Servers Services Team to contact for kerberized code for AIX. Of
course we will need to keep in mind that Tom and the rest of the kerberos
folks have very full plates at the moment. Our most recent target date of
August 1 for having IPM ready for production may be a bit too early for them
to have code ready for us. Tom is confident that they can kerberize AIX, but
they need a few weeks to get the machine up and running and to poke around
in the software. It would probably be a good idea for ASST to check in with
him in July.

By the way, I will also be looking to Tom for some guidance as I deal with IBM
on the subject of kerberizing InfoPrint Manager.

Here then are the next steps as I see them:

 - Tom will continue to work on kerberizing AIX.
 - ASST will check in with Tom Yu in July re kerberized AIX.
 - Rocklyn will consult with Tom for guidance re kerberizing IPM.

Rocklyn
