Rocklyn,

Here's some background email when Mike was dealing with the kerberizing
issue...

We need you to detail your areas of interest to enable Boulder to generate
a ballpark estimate. As stated in his note below, the better defined the
request the more accurate the estimate. I will generate the final
document requesting Boulder's Professional Services. The worksheet that
Alan refers to is a formal request document for Professional Services that
asks that the project be described in detail. (It is not a question and
answer worksheet.) If we need to talk to Boulder development to better
understand IPM security I will put together those conference calls. tks,
jb

Jeff,
This would be done on an hourly fee basis with an estimate provided based
on scope of work from the customer, like any other project.
Sizing would start with you submitting a project sizing worksheet to Prof.
Services from the sales web site, describing in as much detail as possible
the customer environment and requirements. Get MIT to describe exactly the
security capabilities they require for print servers, job submission
clients, and operator/admin clients. What O/S's they intend to run the
clients on, what are the integration points of Kerberos compared to
standard DCE clients? Documentation would be a plus.

Normally, the more detailed the scope of work is, the more accurate the
estimate. If you're looking for a ballpark, say so in the sizing
worksheet.

How do we start to attack this? I imagine you folks have more experience
with these sort of projects than we do in the field. It sounds like MIT is
interested, but would like to get a sizing which seems normal. How do we
do that? jb

Hi Phil,

In one of the emails from Boulder, there was an indication that IBM
would be interested in consulting for us to integrate either the
DCE or non-DCE version of IPM into our Kerberos environment. How
would that consulting contract be structured - hourly rate? fixed
contract fee? What would this work cost us?
