To all who have been following this email thread and to those it may
affect,
Many of you have probably already noted the controversy surrounding the
advertisements for the recent "Jungle Party II" which took place at
Ashdown House on February 22. Several members of the MIT community have
publicly objected to the design of said posters and questioned the
degree of GSC responsibility therein
Please note that the GSC does not maintain specific oversight of the
postering practices of the groups that it funds, other than supporting
the guidelines maintained by the Association of Student Activities.
See http://web.mit.edu/asa/www/public-postering.shtml
Should the GSC set standards or guidelines for graduate student group
publicity or should it continue its hands-off policy?
I invite all interested parties to the GSC Publications and Publicity
Committee meeting on Tuesday, 2/26 at 5:30pm in the GSC office (50-220)
to discuss this and related issues.
Sincererly,
Ronak Bhatt
Publications and Publicity Chair
