Accomplishments in August and September
- met with Craig Counterman regarding general discussion board / Stellar integration issues
- continued product identification and evaluation process
- installed evaluation copy of Discusware on vibes.mit.edu (solaris)
- installed php-enabled web server and mysql on vibes
- installed evaluation copies of Invision Power Board, UBB.threads on vibes
- installed Oracle, eval copy of ColdFusionMX, and evaluation copy of FuseTalk on pc
- eliminated WebCrossing from list
- continued evaluations focusing on the administrative side of the products
(We've found most products to be quite similar at the end-user level. The key
differences lie in the usability of the administrative interface and in the
ability to distribute administrative tasks.)
- Held online meetings with Fusetalk and Jive.
- Had conference call with Bret Ingerman and Dan Green at Skidmore regarding
their experience with FuseTalk and the NERCOMP relationship with FuseTalk.
- Began developing usability testing scenarios.
Goals for next period
- Decide on final products.
- usability testing of top contenders
Next Community Milestone
- determination of recommended product
- begin report
Issues:
- Other pressing job duties have caused fluctuating levels of committment from team members.
