Likely the word 'Darth' was intended to suggest 'dark' and 'death'. In the real world, e.g. the name 'Hitler' suggests harm and danger because it has been in the background of public knowledge for much of our lives. That is not so for 'Darth' for someone who sees Star Wars for the first time, and in a new story a man's name must be made to suggest his nature, e.g. many characters' names in Charles Dickens's stories or in the original book form of 'Black Beauty' by Anna Sewell.
Likewise Vader = invader, Maul = mauling, Sidious = insidious.
That 'Vader' is also Dutch for 'father' was likely pointed out after Star Wars original movie came out but before the next movie came out, and it suggested a major theme.

well.. it is not that Klingon actually *needs* a term for Darth ; but i believe it would be nice if such a term existed. Noone really knows what lucas actually had in mind when he chose that term, and many theories exist. What is certain though,is that the term "Darth" has been passed on to popular science fiction culture, and it now contains a very distinctive meaning ; a meaning one is not so much able to describe in a single word, but rather a distinctive meaning in and of its own. Something like the actual sum of every aggressive and negative attribute ; The combined existence of anger/pride/selfineshness/hate/aggression/manipulation/passion/malice etc.. i think that anyone who hears the word "Darth" just *feels* its meaning.
...etc...
