I am collaborating on a report to a government agency describing the
magnitude of the "information age."
I am looking for statements and statistics on the extent of the
"information explosion." Short, quotable, attributable observations by
key people in business, public service, or information science
would be ideal.
Specifically I'm looking for statistics that illustrate the scope and
dimensions of:
- the information age in general
- internet growth and issues
--number of users
--number of newsgroups
--number of listservs
--rate of email messages generated
--individual/institutional ability to cope with the
volume of email and data files
- number of new books and other documents published
U.S./worldwide
My goal is to find illustrative statistics and statements, with attributable
sources, describing the "information age."
Suggested sources, or quotes and statistics themselves would be most
welcome. Please repsond directly to the author and not to PACS-L.
