     Binghamton University Libraries, State University of New York, seek a
Reference Librarian/Humanities Bibliographer for the Glenn G. Bartle Library.
Bartle Library houses materials in the social sciences, humanities,
management, mathematics, and computer science, education and human
development.

     Position is primarily responsible for reference services and collection
development and management for English Language and Literature, Theater, and
Philosophy at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Reports to the Head of
Reference and Collection Development and serves as part of a team in planning
and providing information and research services to Bartle Library patrons and,
as appropriate, to the wider community.

     Requirements:  ALA accredited MLS, related library experience, and a
second advanced degree in a subject area relevant to position
responsibilities; familiarity with a major Western European Language,
microcomputer applications, and CD-ROMs; strong commitment to service and
effective communication and analytical skills; experience with database
searching; willingness to work a flexible schedule including evening and
weekend hours.  Academic library experience and working knowledge of library
automated systems desirable.

     Screening begins August 20 and will continue until filled.  Appointment
at Assistant or Senior Assistant Librarian rank, depending on qualifications
and experience.  Salary minimum $25,000, plus excellent fringes including
TIAA/CREF.
