Bitnet List Announcement
<COMING AUGUST 3>
LIBEVENT: Library Events in Southern California

LIBEVENT will be an electronic listing of library related
events occurring in the Southern California area, available
to anyone with access to the Bitnet computer network. Event
announcements will be posted beginning August 3.

Events appropriate for listing include programs, talks,
readings, seminars, workshops, or classes in all areas of
library and information science. Southern California is
defined as roughly Santa Barbara south to the Mexican border,
and east to the Arizona/Nevada border. Listings will include
date, time, place, title, fee, description and whom to
contact for more information. The list is moderated and will
include only postings of events. Discussion about the events
as well as job postings will be excluded.

By posting event announcements to LIBEVENT, organizations and
individuals will, AT NO COST, reach a far wider audience than
could be done by mailing flyers. While LIBEVENT will not
take the place of traditional publicity efforts, it will be a
useful complement, particularly for groups interested in
reaching new audiences.

Anyone may subscribe to LIBEVENT. To subscribe, send the
following message to LISTSERV@VM.USC.EDU or
LISTSERV@USCVM.BITNET:

     SUBSCRIBE LIBEVENT Firstname Lastname
[Note: Do not put any punctuation in this message.]

LIBEVENT is a public service provided by the University of
Southern California Libraries and will use the LISTSERV at
the University of Southern California (USCVM).
