At Southampton University we simply make a backup copy of any floppy disk
arriving with a book, keep the master in a safe place and allow the copy to
circulate. Our security system not infrequently wipes all data off floppy disk,
despite the fact that we try and label books which contain floppies so that
they are not inadvertently passed through the book desensitizer
