Announcing the ALA Washington Office Electronic Newsletter

Starting in July, the ALA Washington Office will be offering the ALA
Washington Office Newsline, an electronic publication similar to the
publication previously offered through ALANET. The newsletter will be
distributed through the University of Illinois List Server, and will be
available without charge to anyone who can receive Bitnet messages. This
electronic newsletter will supplement other current ALA Washington Office
communication methods such as the ALA Washington Newsletter and alerts to
key legislative network contacts.

The ALA Washington Office Newsline will have stories on:
* The GPO WINDO/Gateway Bills
* Appropriations for libraries and library-related projects
* Hearings and legislation of interest to the library community
* Availability of grants and fellowships
* Library Legislative Day
* Opportunities for you to make your voice heard by the federal government

To subscribe, send an e-mail message to the Bitnet address LISTSERV@UICVM.
Leave the subject line blank, and put as the only line in the body of the
message "SUBSCRIBE ALA-WO FirstName LastName".

For example, Melvil Dewey would subscribe by sending the following message:
       SUBSCRIBE ALA-WO Melvil Dewey

The Newsletter is also available through Internet, CompuServe, MCI Mail,
and any other e-mail service that can receive Internet messages. If you
have trouble subscribing, ask your computer center or e-mail service for
assistance.

Please note that this is a newsletter only, not a discussion group. Please
do not send messages to ALA-WO@UICVM. Any questions or comments should be
sent to NU_ALAWASH@CUA or NU_ALAWASH@CUAVAX.DNET.CUA.EDU.

The first issue is scheduled to be sent out July 9 or 10.
