For those of you who want to build your own books
there is a little HyperCard stack on ftp.apple.com
in the /ftp/alug/hypercard directory. It's called
bookbuilder.1.1.cpt.hqx (catchy, eh?) and you can use
it to make an ASCII file into a paginated stack that
you read with the arrow keys. You can also mark the
pages and add margin notes.

I find it useful for long reports, text from
the Online Book Iniative <world.std.com>, and
streams of email that I don't really want to print out.
It is sized for the PowerBook, but you can change the
screen size for any other Macintosh. Freeware.

The titles mentioned in the Newsweek article were a
big hit at the recent American Booksellers Assn in Anaheim.
