Eric Lease Morgan, Systems Librarian,North Carolina State University Libraries
will be demonstrating a number of custom designed HyperCard stacks at the Apple
booth Saturday, June 27 from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.

Librarians, programmers, and people who believe HyperCard can't be used to
create meaningful library applications are encouraged to attend.

Below is a list and short description of the stacks to be demonstrated.

  * THE MARC READER WITH FIND - simple, portable online catalog. In its present
state, it reads MARC records in communications format, re-formats them into
tagged or labeled displays, and appends these re-formatted records to the
stack. The stack can then selected fields of the record with variations of the
HyperCard "find" command.

  * QUICKCAT MAC - another simple, portable online catalog. This stack won the
grand prize in the 1991 Computers in Libraries Software contest. This stack is
ideal for the very small library who does not have access to MARC records.

  * HYPERNOTE PRO - annotates text with graphics, text, and hypertext links to
other documents and/or applications.

  * DIALOG PLUS - a HyperCard/MicroPhone front-end to DIALOG. Based on a
reference interview, DIALOG Plus creates simple search strategies, sends them
to DIALOG, retreives the results, and logs off. Furthermore, more advanced
searches can be created from the results of previous searches.

  * KI PLUS - a HyperCard/MicroPhone front-end to Knowledge Index. This is just
like DIALOG Plus except it searches Knowledge Index.

  * LISTMANAGER - a front-end to Listservs which subscribes, unsubscribes,
turns mail on or off, retrieves documents, searches archives, and more.

  * MINI-ATLAS - a Geographic Name Server client placing the results of queries
on a world map.

  * TAKE ME TO YOUR... LIBRARY - is an incomplete directory of Internet
accessible OPACs and a terminal to take you there.
