I agree totally with Debra, but if we don't start looking at what the
technologists are saying and speaking up now, it is the technologists who
will determine the future of libraries. Which is why I brought up the
issue in the first place.

re: Mall-based reading rooms.
One of our librarians went to Paris last year, and brought back
a photo of a "library" in a metro stop. It was extremely
small; no more than one person could fit in at a time, but it
allowed for commuters to borrow popular books to read while they
traveled. Seems to me that this would be comparable to a
mall-based reading room.
