Here are two excellent events which were left out of the ALA Preliminary
Conference Program, both are presented by the SRRT Environment Task Force:
1) Poverty, Development, and the Environment: Information Challenges for
Libraries."
David Brower, one of the most renowned environmentalists of our time, is the
presenter. The program is cosponsored by GODORT.
Date and time: Saturday, June 27, 2:00-4:00.
2) "Tools of the Trade or Poisons for the Planet: the Environmental Impact
of Paper, Computers, and Microfilm."
This is a panel discussion with: David Assman, Vice President of
Conservatree Paper Co.; Gar Smith, editor of Earth Island Journal; Bill
Leland, program director of ECONET; Ted Smith, executive director of the
Silicone Valley Toxics Coalition; and Matthew Wolfinger, enc\vironmental
coordinator form ANACOMP, Inc., a major microfilm producer.
