Database Services/Reference Librarian
St. Lawrence University, a private, non-denominational liberal arts college
located between the Adirondack Mountains and the St. Lawrence River, is seeking
a dynamic, innovative person to assume the position of Database Services/
Reference Librarian. The library has a fully integrated Innovative Interfaces,
Inc. library system which includes automated acquisitions, cataloging, circu-
lation, serials control and OPAC. Reporting to the University Librarian, the
successful candidate will have primary responsibility for the planning, eval-
uation, and coordination of online and CD-rom services. Reference dutes will
include online searching, participation in reference desk services (including
some evening and weekend hours), instructional activities; and shared involve-
ment in reference services planning and collection development.
Required: ALA accredited MLS; 2-3 years of professional online searching
experience; reference experience; strong commitment to service; effective
communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred: Experience in an OPAC environment, academic library experience,
additional advanced degree.
12 month contract; liberal benefits; faculty status with one month vacation
Starting date: On or before September 1, 1992 preferred.
Salary range: $23-25,000
