Does anyone know of any studies that have been done analing the effects
of a local produced cd-rom union catalog upon ILL activity. I have
just completed the coordination of a project named TOMCAT. It is a
cd-rom union catalog that contains the holdings of 51 libraries from
northwest Ohio and 15 libraries in northeast Ohio. I am writing a
research paper for my MLS at Kent State on this topic. I would be
very interested in obtaining statistical information anyone has that
would show this type of a product has a positive or negative effect upon
ILL activity. Also if anyone has personal experience with e-mail options
associated with cd-rom products to enhance resource sharing I would like
to hear from you. We are trying to find a way to incude some sort of
e-mail option for our libraries. At the present time they have to fax
back and forth quite a bit which can get expensive and time consuming.
