Since this seems to be the week to announce new Internet guides, let
me note that InfoPop (release 1.5) is now being distributed. InfoPop
comes in 2 flavors: TSR and non-resident. The TSR version swaps out
to disk or EMS when not active so it uses only about 8K of RAM. The
most interesting feature of InfoPop is the ability to cut & paste
from the InfoPop hypertext search system to your underlying
application (your comm program, for example). Saves trying to
remember the cryptic TELNET addresses. InfoPop also supports a mouse.
InfoPop is a both a tutorial system (lots of info on what various
systems do and how to use them) and a address book for locating
various resources. Covers Internet/Bitnet/CompuServe/BBS systems
and more. FREEWARE from GMUtant Software.
InfoPop is available on the GMUtant OnLine BBS: 703-993-2219
1200/2400/9600 v.32
An older version (1.3) is available via ftp from FTP.UNT.EDU in the
library directory. The latest version (INFPOP15.ZIP) is also on that
server but when I last looked it was in the INCOMING directory. To
access that, you need to CD INCOMING at the initial ftp> prompt
then bget INFPOP15.ZIP.
