Questia collection includes over 67,000 books and over one million journal,
magazine, and newspaper articles in the humanities and social sciences.
Questia also includes research and writing tools, such as the ability to
highlight, make margin notes, and automatically generate bibliographies and
footnotes. Questia is a Houston-based company with approximately 70
employees.
Job Description:
Questia is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic librarian to help us build our
collection. The librarian in this position will manage the collection
development process, including supervising one librarian and coordinating
activities with other appropriate areas, including the Licensing Team.
Collection management activities include identifying publishers for the
Licensing Team to work with, prioritizing materials for selection and
digitization, selecting books and journals for addition to the Questia
collection, evaluating the collection, and identifying and addressing
collection gaps. Collection development includes both current and
retrospective materials.
The librarian in this position will also work with other individuals and
departments on projects that highlight and promote the collection.
This position is a member of the six-person Collections Department and
reports to the Director of Content Development.
Requirements:
- MLS
- 5+ years of experience in collection development, reference, library
instruction, or other applicable areas
- excellent understanding of student and faculty research topics, needs,
and habits
- excellent understanding of collection development principles and
practices
- outstanding verbal and written communication skills
- initiative
- flexibility
- ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment
- ability to work with deadlines
- supervisory experience preferred
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits include vacation, sick
