Evening/Saturday Services Librarian (AssistantAssociate Professor)
Hunter College Wexler Library
New York, NY

Duties: Reporting to the Associate Librarian for Public Services, is 
responsible for operation and closing of Main Campus Library during 
evening and Saturday hours, including supervising part-time support 
staff, participates in general reference service, library 
instruction, and collection development; assists patrons in the use 
of all library resources in all formats; develops instructional 
publications in various formats. May be assigned as needed to other 
divisions of Hunter College Libraries.

Qualifications: Assistant/Associate Professor: M.L.S., or its 
equivalent from an ALA-accredited library school, and an additional 
Master=s degree or Doctorate. Associate Professor: Record of 
accomplishment suitable for appointment as Associate Professor.

Highly desirable: minimum two years experience in library public 
services, demonstrated supervisory experience; academic library 
reference, electronic resources and bibliographic instruction skills; 
excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to meet 
requirements for promotion/tenure.

Salary: Assistant Professor: $36,432- $61,111, Associate Professor: 
$45,651 - $73,028, commensurate with qualifications and experience. 
Liberal fringe benefits. 35-hour, 5-day work week (up to 4 evenings 
until closing and Saturdays each week during academic year)

Hunter College, the second oldest college in The City University of 
New York, is a coeducational, fully accredited college, with a large 
and diverse faculty in the liberal arts and sciences and in several 
professional schools. Hunter's total enrollment is approximately 
20,000 students. Of these, about 8,000 are full-time undergraduate, 
an additional 8,000 are part-time students, and over 4,000 are 
graduate students studying in arts and sciences, teacher education 
and professional programs at the Schools of Arts and Sciences, 
Education, Social Work, and Health Professions.

With a professional staff of 23 librarians, Hunter College Library 
contains over 790,000 volumes, 2,300 current periodical titles, 
20,000 electronic journals, and a nonprint collection of discs, 
tapes, scores, CD-ROMs, microforms, art slides and digitized slides. 
The library resources of Hunter College are available through CUNY+, 
an automated library system, which provides access to all CUNY 
library collections.
