Sparking Synergies: Bringing Research and Practice Together @ ASIST '05, reflects the increasing need to bring together the knowledge gained through empirical and theoretical studies and through “on-the-ground” experience. A conscious effort was made to solicit and include high quality contributions from practitioners in the field of information science as well as the research arena, and the program committee is proud of the exceptionally diverse range of sessions we have this year.
42 papers, 46 panels, and 60 posters explore the intersection of research domains such as behavioral science, communications, computer science, sociology, business, biomedical sciences, history, philosophy, linguistics, and many others, with a variety of fields of practice such as librarianship, information architecture, systems design and development, publishing, bibliography, interface design and usability, teaching, and classification.
And finally, this year marks the first time that the Proceedings will be offered in electronic form, both as a CD-ROM available at the conference, and with enhanced content from poster and panel sessions added after the meeting.
