We had a public forum on eco-development here in Victoria, the Geneva of the
Pacific according to Amor de Cosmos (he changed his name from John or William
Smith and came here from California during our gold rush - pardon the long
aside), and one of the recommendations to Victoria City Council was that a
Greater Victoria Region community-access digital network (on the Free-Net
model) be established. I'm part of an ad hoc organizing group and would love
to hear from others who are going through the process.
A couple of notable quotes: Fiberways, not freeways. Less paper, not
paperless. Ride the toll-free bridge to knowledge.
