Responsibilities:       Under general direction of the Coordinator for
Collection Management, provide leadership, direction and guidance
to four librarians and supervise three support staff for cataloging.
Advise all personnel involved with cataloging in the library. Establish
goals and priorities. Monitor all activities concerning the cataloging
of the library’s main collection such as original and copy cataloging
of library resources, staff training, statistics, maintaining the integrity
of the online catalog, and linking the catalog to Internet and
electronic resources. Monitor standards for bibliographic records in
the online catalog created by other units on campus. Work
creatively and cooperatively to enhance and evaluate library
programs and services, monitor new trends, and implement new
initiatives & technology.

Qualifications (Required):  ALA accredited masters degree required
at the time of hire; at least two years cataloging experience;
excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to foster a
team environment; ability to establish successful working
relationships with faculty, staff, and students; ability to manage a
variety of responsibilities; substantial cataloging knowledge
including AACR2, MARC formats, OCLC, and metadata standards.
Ability to meet promotion and tenure requirements and a
commitment to professional development.

(Preferred):    Supervisory experience, knowledge of Voyager
system, and knowledge of a foreign language.

This is a 12-month tenure-track appointment with faculty rank.

Salary and Benefits:    Highly competitive salary, academic rank
commensurate with qualifications.  Generous benefits include paid
State or TIAA/CREF retirement, 24 days annual leave, 12 days sick
leave, and 13 paid holidays.

three letters of recommendation specific to the position will be
