On behalf of the ALA RUSA Resource Sharing Section Feasibility Task Force,
and with the usual apologies for cross-posting, I am pleased to announce
that ALA's newly established resource sharing section known as STARS
(Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section) is accepting
volunteers for committees being established in 2004. The URL for the
volunteer form is http://www.ala.org/rusa/ - click on "volunteer" and then
select the form for Sharing and Transforming Access to Resources Section.
The committees seeking volunteers are:
Boucher Award
Codes, Guidelines, and Technical Standards
Education and Training
Interlibrary Loan
Legislation and Licensing
Nominating
Vendor Relations
In addition, we will be appointing STARS section representatives to the
following RUSA division-level committees:
Access to Information
Conference Program Coordinating
Membership
Nominating
Organization
Planning and Finance
Professional Development
Publications
Standards and Guidelines
Please note that in order to be appointed, you must be either a current
member of RUSA or willing to become a member of RUSA and STARS at the time
of your appointment. This is your chance to shape the future of STARS as
well as the future of resource sharing. Please consider getting involved
with this important to new initiative, and help us get STARS off to a
stellar start!
Mary
P.S. If anyone is interested in seeing committee charges or a list of
projects for the new committees before completing the volunteer form, just
email me at hollerich@northwestern.edu and I will be happy to supply you
with this information.
