Is your library doing electronic reference? The answer is probably "YES."

If you are managing this service or involved in providing it in your
library, you will want to come to:

"Management Tools and Privacy Issues for Electronic Reference Services," a
discussion forum at the ALA Midwinter Meeting in San Diego, sponsored by
RUSA/MARS Management of Electronic Reference Services Committee and Local
Systems and Services Committee.

When: Sunday, January 11, 2004, 2 - 4 pm
Where: San Diego Convention Center, Room 10

Put this meeting on your calendar and come to this lively discussion about
management and privacy issues related to electronic reference:
* What is the impact of electronic reference on our ability to protect the
privacy rights of our users?
* What privacy issues must we consider in managing electronic reference
services and what actions should we be taking?
* How can this technology help us to better manage reference services?
* What options are available to integrate reference services across
delivery options (synchronous, asynchronous, in person, etc)?

Discussion leaders:
* Paul Neuhaus, Social Sciences Librarian, Carnegie Mellon University,
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
* Laura Probst, Head of Public Services, Penn State University, University
Park, Pennsylvania
