This Friday I will meet with the library committee of a small private
school in Dallas, and discuss
plans to provide their library with an OPAC. This library has less than 5000
volumes, and the school
is unlikely to grow beyond 250 students and 25 teachers. Supposedly I am
there to add my
library expertise.
I presume that the major questions we will need to address are those
related to using a
microcomputer both as online public catalog and as a circulation system. I
am planning to use
this book as my basic guide: Automating Media Centers and Small Libraries
(2002) by Dajnia Bilal,
though it now looks like I won't have it in time for the meeting.
If anyone knows of a book, or report, or article that I should consult,
I would appreciate your
telling me about it. Yes, this is my first day on this listserv. Thank you.
Cheers,
