You can have a big impact on a growing online community supporting public
access computing!
WebJunction.org is looking for members of the public access & library
community to test an editorial model distributing responsibility out into
the community for different topic areas of the site, thereby transferring
the authority of growing and maintaining the knowledge base out to the
people who know it best and will be most affected by its accuracy and depth.
We are looking for two individuals to serve as our first guest editors and
to help us determine the specific processes needed to effectively run a
distributed editorial model. The positions will be volunteer. We anticipate
that the 3-month test period will include:
* Training on editorial processes currently used on WebJunction;
* Training on content types and formats for content items and what the
community is looking for in general;
* Roughly two hours per week for gathering content and resources, organizing
them, and sending them off to the WJ Editorial Team for upload to the site;
* Roughly two hours per month of sending feedback and talking over
procedures and plans for adding more guest editors.
Guest editors will be expected to judge content based upon quality and value
to the community, and will work with contributors to maintain consistency in
presentation, based upon WJ content formats and standards criteria.
These positions will have the opportunity for visibility on the site, as we
would like the community to know that we are working on using this editorial
model in future.
