I recall that the ALA promoted democracy in the information age as a
primary theme a few years ago. As we gear up for the 2004 election, now is
time to prepare online and print materials for library patrons to help them
make use of the best online sources.

E-Democracy has put together a set of pages pointing to a number of high
quality sources, including some that are not as well known. I encourage
you to set a link <http://www.e-democracy.us> to the proper section of your
web site. Our completely volunteer effort will be working through the 2004
election to help citizens navigate the best election information resources
across the Internet. In the early days of the campaign, only the
politically motivated tend seek out this information. By adding links
where young people, new citizens, and others browse or access the Internet
perhaps we can inspire some early civic activity.

We are also open to serving as a distribution point for PDF files of
handouts about how to use the Internet in the 2004 election. If you would
like to prepare some sort of a two page flyer based on our site, we could
put that up for use in libraries around the country right away.
Interested? Please volunteer: http://www.e-democracy.org/comments.html
