RUSA and the Library of Congress invite you to the RUSA/LC Forum on
Digital Reference on Sunday, January 26, at the ALA Midwinter Meeting.
Dr. Marcia Bates, professor in the Dept. of Information Studies, UCLA,
will present her paper "Improving User Access to Library Catalog and
Portal Information." Panelists including Judy Ahronheim, metadata
specialist at the University of Michigan Graduate Library, and Mary
Woodley, social sciences librarian, University of California, Northridge,
will comment on the main themes of the paper:
- User access vocabulary
- Grouping/linking "bibliographic families"
- Staging of access to resources in the interface
The forum will take place:
Sunday January 26
4:30-5:30 P.M.
LOEWS Philadelphia - Regency Ballroom C
This is a great opportunity for public service and technical services
librarians to discuss how cataloging can support the needs of reference
service librarians and end users in the digital age. The forum is part of
the Library of Congress Action Plan, "Bibliographic Control of Web
Resources." Reference and technical services librarians are all welcome.
