Reference Librarian at the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC
Major Responsibilities:
This reference librarian helps patrons at the Reference Desk 12-15 hours
per week including some nights and weekends, participates in the
library’s overall bibliographic instruction program, creates Web pages,
bibliographies and other instructional materials and serves as
collection development liaison to one or more academic departments. In
addition, this person assists in the selection of electronic resources
for reference, creates online research guides, and provides technical
support for the library public workstations. This is a tenure track
position.
Requirements:
ALA-accredited Master of Library Science; knowledge of electronic
information resources, strong verbal and written skills, an ability to
work independently and as part of a team to accomplish mutual goals and
to adapt to a changing environment with a positive and innovative
attitude.
Desired:
Experience in an academic library; knowledge of emerging trends in
instructional technology; electronic classroom teaching experience;
experience in web development and design tools or network technology.

Salary:
Minimum starting salary: $33,000.
Benefits:
The position is full time, tenure track, eleven-month appointment.
Benefits: State holidays (approximately 12 per year), paid sick leave
(ten hours/month), contribution towards moving expenses, health
