NEWS RELEASE RMG Consultants, Inc. 19 November 2002 Chicago
"LIBRARY PORTALS -- WHAT ARE THEY, WHAT IS THEIR FUTURE, AND WHO SHOULD PROVIDE THEM?" is the topic of
RMG's Thirteenth Annual Presidents' Seminar: The View from the Top
Friday January 24, 2003 2:00 - 5:00 p.m.
Convention Center Room 108A
ALA Midwinter Conference, Philadelphia
What do presidents of leading library technology companies and library industry leaders believe is important for libraries and their users as the Web and Web-based digital content become critical components of library information services?
The panel targeted for RMG's Thirteenth Annual Presidents' Seminar will include representatives from the library industry's technology companies.
Top executives of leading companies and library industry leaders are asked in this free seminar to share their thoughts and best advice to libraries.
These leaders will be asked to consider and discuss these questions:
- What is a Library Portal, or what should it be?
- Who inside or outside the library technology industry should provide Library Portals?
- Does every library need its own Library Portal?
- Will Library Portals replace the Online Catalog?
The ground rules for panelists are to keep their discussions of libraries and today's library industry at professional and industry-wide levels, and not make sales pitches or promote their companies or products.
Companies from throughout the library industry are invited to attend as members of the audience, to add their questions and comments to those of the panelists.
Convened by Rob McGee, President of RMG Consultants, Inc., this free seminar annually focuses the library community on topics of significance. This unique industry forum for the exchange of ideas on
leading edge developments is RMG's way of thanking librarians and companies whose energy and passion lead the library industry.
Registration is not required.
