No slew of ads.
At least other than the ones normally found on web pages.
I don't know how to turn off the ones you are refering to.
One advantage 6.1 has over earlier versions of Netscape, including 6.0, is
the ability to display pages with non-roman text and marks over Roman
characters. Previous versions would change such Roman letters with accents
etc and turn them into non-roman text if a non-Roman character set had been
chosen for the web page.
IE did not have this problem.
For me this was important as I have waited for years to add alot of
Japanese text to an online glossary I maintain.
