                     POSITION ADVERTISEMENT

HUMANITIES REFERENCE LIBRARIAN:  Duties involve reference and
information services at the combined Humanities and General
Information Desk, including evening and weekend hours as scheduled;
collection development responsibilities in English and American
literature; participation in the library's bibliographic
instruction program; performs other duties as assigned.  The
librarian in the position will report to the Head of the Humanities
Department, one of eight departments of the Reference and
Information Services Division.  QUALIFICATIONS: Required: An ALA-
accredited MLS with a strong academic record. Desired:  Graduate
work in English and American literature, reference experience; and
a record of scholarly, professional, and research activity.  Salary
$25,000 minimum, higher with experience.  Twelve-month tenure track
position.  Benefits include 20 days vacation; 12 days sick leave;
participation in state teacher's retirement (mandatory); TIAA/CREF
or additional voluntary retirement plans available;
health/life/disability insurance.  Application review process
begins October 1, 1992.  Beginning date negotiable.  Complete
application must include resume, undergraduate and graduate
transcripts, and names and addresses of at least three current
