I think that is dependent on the job posting.  Ours require a degree from an
ALA accredited program or other approved terminal degree depending on what
position it is.

I'm currently enrolled in a one year old MLIS program at Trevecca Nazarene
University.  With extensive computer and other educational backgrounds, will
not being from an ALA-accredited program always be a hinderance?
