ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (HEAD LIBRARIAN), Position No. 86629, Kapi'olani
Community College, full-time, general funds, 11 months, tenurial, to begin
approximately 08/01, pending position clearance and availability of funds.
DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Dean of Instruction, the
position will be responsible for the college's Library and Learning
Resources (LLR) unit. The position will supervise LLR staff; direct
operations; develop and implement relevant policies, plans and planning
processes, and budgets; promote cooperation between academic programs and
the LLR; and provide campus leadership in development of online and
international LLR services. The position will be responsible for 17 faculty
and staff that provide library, computing lab, testing center, campus web
site and other learning resource services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's
degree in Library Science from ALA accredited library school and five (5)
years of superior work as an Instructor (Librarian) or equivalent work
experience. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Experience or coursework in the areas
of: automated library systems, specialized collection development, technical
service processes, and organizational management; familiarity with
management and development of multi media and computer/electronic learning
resources; understanding of technological issues facing academic libraries,
distance learning; excellent oral and written communication skills and
ability to work with students, faculty, administration, and the community;
teaching experience; familiarity with electronic resource areas such as
digital libraries and institutional web sites; experience with grant writing
and fundraising and strong organizational skills. MINIMUM ANNUAL SALARY:
